SPIN places fellows in substantive year-long paid
positions with organizations working in the public interest.
Please contact us at spin@stanfordalumni.org if
your organization may be interested in hosting a fellow.
WHY ORGANIZATIONS PARTICIPATE:
- Skilled Applicants. Participating
organizations gain access to an exceptional applicant
pool with general training in writing, analysis, and
research; a responsible work ethic; creativity; teamwork
skills; and a dedication to meeting deadlines.
- Commitment. Students
applying for SPIN fellowships are self-selecting in
their commitment to making a contribution to the public
interest.
- Screening. The
Stanford Public Interest Network narrows the pool of
Stanford applicants to 1-3 candidates who match the
organization’s stated needs. The organization may
interview the students and choose among them.
- Economics. The
host organization agrees to pay at least $2300 per month
(plus health insurance) for full-time year-long Fellows.
- Legacy and Community. The
Stanford Public Interest Network offers organizations
the chance to introduce talented newcomers to the
nonprofit community. Additionally, SPIN mentors, the
network of Stanford University alumni working in the
public interest, and educational seminars will provide
fellows with skills that they can apply at their host
organizations.
EXPECTATIONS OF HOST ORGANIZATIONS:
- Provide full compensation for the fellow: $2300 per
month plus health insurance.
- Provide challenging and meaningful work for the
fellow.
- Provide good supervision for the fellow.
